The pathogenicity of entomopathogenic nematode was evaluated against Anastrepha luden (Loew); under laboratory conditions. Cumulative mortality of larvae and pupae was about 71.13 percent with the concentration of 2000 lJs/ml using the Heterorhabditis indica . Meanwhile, S. carpocapsae Mexican Steinernema carpocapsae AH, H. bacteriophora HP88 and Steinernema riobrave caused 53.03,51.2, 42.29, and 38.26 percent of cumulative mortality, respectively. H. indica, S. carpocapsae Mexican AII and strains were evaluated using the following concentrations: 0,1000,2000,3000,4000,5000, 6000 Jls/ml. Mean lethai concentrations (LC50) for H. indica was 7.23, and S. carpocapsae Mexican and Al strains viere 19.31 and 33.22 nematodes /cm 2 Variability in the expression of pathogenicity was demonstrated between species and strains of the entomopathogenic nematode A. luden larvae and pupae. H. índica, S. carpocapsae Mexican and AII strains exhibited potential as biological control against the thirth instar larvae and pupae of Mexican fruit fly. |
